Our brain is the most fascinating and the most complex organ in our body.
Billions of nerve cells (neurons) and many times more contact points (synapses)
give it capabilities that no supercomputer can match, probably not even in the foreseeable future.
One of its most important abilities is its ability to learn.

Our brain cells are not - as previously assumed - only created at birth - on the contrary:
Even an adult brain can form new nerve cells into old age!

Around 1,400 new cells (neurons) are formed in the hippocampus every day.

Each individual nerve cell can connect with the help of dendrites (which can be up to one meter long)
with up to 30,000 other nerve cells.


The formation of new neurons

New connections made by human brain cells (Neuroplasticity). Neuroplasticity is an umbrella term for “all the physical changes that our experiences create in the brain”. (Duration 120 hours / 5 days)

This creates a communication network that can transmit information effectively and quickly.
